貓王Elvis: #1 Hit Performances

艾維斯·普萊斯里（Elvis Presley），暱稱貓王（The Hillbilly Cat and King of the Western Bop），1935年1月8日－1977年8月16日，知名美國搖滾樂歌手與演員。普萊斯里出生於密西西比州圖珀洛（Tupelo, MS），曾經在德國美軍基地服役，與他同期的搖滾歌手還有Dean Martin、Bill Haley、Chuck Berry、Buddy Holly、Jerry Lee 和 Little Richard 等。美國南方歌迷為 Elvis 取的暱稱——The Hillbilly Cat，意為「來自南方的小貓」。
1944年5月5日，9歲的貓王首次登台表演，他在密西西比州的亞拉巴馬博覽會上演唱了鄉村歌曲「老牧師」（Old Shep），不久搬到田納西州的孟菲斯，開始和一些職業樂手接觸，參加「黑森林兄弟 」（Black wood Brothers）的演出。高中畢業，隔天便立即到機械工廠工作。1956年貓王進軍影壇，拍下首部電影「LoveMeTender」，1957年拍攝自傳電影「Loving You」。1958年3月，貓王應召入伍。1960年，貓王退伍。服役期間他與空軍上尉Joseph Beaulieu的女兒普莉西拉（Priscilla Beaulieu ）戀愛，Priscilla 搬進Graceland 與貓王同居，兩人於1966年結婚。1972年兩人宣佈分手，並於隔年離婚，Priscilla擁有女兒的監護權。雖然生平曾與不少知名女性相戀，據悉與他有過性關係的女性超過3000人，包含性感女神瑪麗蓮·夢露，但卻只曾與普莉西拉·普萊斯里結婚，生有一女麗莎·普萊斯里（Lisa Marie Presley）。
1977年8月16日被發現在浴室昏倒，經緊急送往醫院急救後，因心律嚴重失常導致心臟病突發過世（可能是吸毒、酗酒過量），享年僅42歲。當晚，所有電視網絡播出數千人穿著黑衣聚集在Graceland悼念貓王。普萊斯里經常被認為是搖滾樂歷史上影響力最大的歌手，因此又有搖滾樂之王（The King of Rock 'n' Roll）的譽稱。
